Skin, Ear, and Allergy Management

Diagnosis and ongoing treatment plans for itchy skin, ear infections, and allergies. Dr Winnie can also observe your pet in their home environment, which sometimes reveals triggers a clinic visit would miss.

Why Choose a Mobile Vet

No car stress. No waiting room full of barking dogs. No wrestling your cat into a carrier. A mobile vet visit means your pet stays in the environment they already trust — and you skip the logistics.

Your pet is calmer at home

Your dog gets examined on the living room rug. Your cat gets checked on the couch where they nap every afternoon. Animals behave more naturally at home, which often means a more accurate examination and less stress for everyone.

One visit covers the whole household

Two dogs and a cat? They all get seen in one appointment, in their own space, without three separate car trips to a clinic.

Built for WFH pet parents

If you work from home, a vet visit doesn't need to mean rearranging your entire day. Dr Winnie comes to you — your pet gets seen between your meetings, not instead of them.

Fear Free Certified — What That Means for Your Pet

Fear Free is a globally recognised certification built on evidence-based techniques for reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in animals. It's not just a philosophy — it's a specific set of handling skills that change how a vet interacts with your pet.

Dr Winnie reads your pet's body language, moves at their pace, and adjusts her approach in real time. Whether it's a nervous staffy or a cat who hides under the bed, every movement is designed to keep your pet calm. Combined with the comfort of a home visit, the difference in how most animals respond is noticeable.

Meet Dr Winnie – Your Mobile Vet in Melbourne's West

Dr Winnie graduated from the University of Queensland in 2007. Over nearly two decades, she has worked across emergency, the surgical unit of a university teaching hospital, and suburban general practices — building deep diagnostic instincts and pattern recognition across a wide range of conditions.

In 2017, a course in feline behaviour changed how she approached every patient. She became passionate about low-stress handling, earned her Fear Free certification, and launched Gentle Vet Care — a mobile vet service that brings thorough, gentle preventive care to homes across Wyndham Vale, Werribee, Tarneit, and Melbourne's western suburbs.

She continues to work at a brick-and-mortar clinic on some days, keeping her clinical skills current. It's clinic-level expertise with home-visit comfort.

FAQs

  • What areas does Gentle Vet Care service?

Gentle Vet Care Mobile Vet is based in Wyndham Vale and serves Melbourne's western suburbs including Werribee, Tarneit, Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook, Manor Lakes, Truganina, Williams Landing, and surrounding areas. Not sure if you're in range? Book online or get in touch and Dr Winnie will confirm.

  • Is a mobile vet visit the same quality as a clinic?

For preventive and diagnostic care — yes, and often better. Dr Winnie has worked across emergency, the surgical unit of a university teaching hospital, and general practice. She also continues to work at a brick-and-mortar clinic, so her clinical skills stay current. The difference is the setting: your pet is examined at home, where they behave more naturally.

  • Do you see both dogs and cats?

Yes. Dr Winnie sees both dogs and cats and brings equal care to both. Her background in feline behaviour means she understands how differently cats and dogs respond to handling and adjusts her approach for each animal.

  • Can you see multiple pets in one visit?

Yes — it's one of the most practical reasons families book a home visit. All your pets get seen in one appointment without separate car trips. Just let Dr Winnie know how many need checking when you book.

  • Can you handle anxious or reactive pets?

Anxious and reactive pets are exactly who Gentle Vet Care was built for. No waiting room, no steel table, no fluorescent lights. Dr Winnie works on your living room floor, Fear Free certified, reading your pet's body language and adjusting in real time.

  • How long does a home visit take?

A typical wellness check or vaccination visit takes around 30 to 45 minutes. If you have multiple pets or there's something specific Dr Winnie wants to examine more closely, allow a little longer. The visit is never rushed — the whole point is that your pet gets a thorough check-up, not a quick one.

  • What is Fear Free certification?

Fear Free is a training and certification programme that teaches vets specific, evidence-based techniques for reducing fear, anxiety, and stress during appointments. It covers everything from how to approach an animal, to reading subtle body language signals, to adjusting the environment. Dr Winnie earned her certification after years of practising low-stress handling and seeing the difference it makes — particularly for cats and anxious dogs.
