Home Vet Visits Across Point Cook

Dr Winnie is a mobile vet who covers all of Point Cook 3030, from Sanctuary Lakes and Saltwater Coast to Featherbrook, Alamanda and the newer streets at Upper Point Cook. No carrier. No car ride. No waiting room that smells like someone else's fear. Just your vet, in your home, in Point Cook.

Point Cook is the largest suburb in the country, and a suburb this big spreads its pets across a long way of estates, school zones and Saturday-morning traffic. A home visit takes all of that out of the equation. Dr Winnie comes to your door, whichever corner of Point Cook you are in.

NOT AT HOME

  • Deep sedation or general anaesthesia
  • Dental work under anaesthesia
  • X-rays and imaging
  • Hospitalisation
  • After-hours emergency

When your pet needs any of these, you get a specific referral (not a brochure) and Dr Winnie stays in the loop until your pet is home.

Meet Dr Winnie

Dr Winnie qualified at the University of Queensland in 2007. Across nearly two decades she has worked in emergency medicine, the surgical unit of a university teaching hospital, and everyday suburban practice, before committing to home visits full-time.

That blend of experience counts. Years in emergency and teaching-hospital surgery trained her eye to catch the serious things early, and to tell the difference between a lump that can be left alone and one that belongs in front of a surgeon. General practice is where she found she loved the steady work of keeping pets well.

Being Fear Free certified means she takes her lead from your pet, reading their body language and moving at a pace they can handle rather than forcing the exam. And because she is a registered vet working solo, the person at your door is the same familiar face every visit, not whoever happens to be rostered on.

Dr Winnie has helped to make vet visits a positive experience for my dogs, and I think her gentle, behaviour based approach is brilliant! I have one dog in particular who needs extra care and has had a bad experience in the past with vets. Dr Winnie has created a comfortable environment for him and made excellent progress. Would highly recommend!

Winnie thx so much for all you did for us today. Not only were you a very capable vet, but your care for all of us was grounded in deep compassion. I will be forever grateful for the kindness and understanding you showered on us. Many blessings Finn, Fletch and Aari 🤗💕🐾🌹

We had a great experience with Gentle Vet Care and Dr Winnie. The home visit made things much less stressful for our pet, and the whole process felt calm and easy. Dr Winnie was gentle, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly.Highly recommend if you’re after a more relaxed alternative to clinic visits.

Highly recommend Dr Winnie!  She takes her time, she follows the fear free principles which means she listens to your dog, something that is extremely important especially if you have a sensitive or anxious dog or a brand new puppy.Even more convenient is the fact she comes to you!! No waiting in a car park or crammed waiting room.If you are looking for a kind and compassionate vet, Dr Winnie is the one.

Dr Winnie has been so caring and gentle with our old dog Willow. Willow is usually quite territorial and takes her time warming up to new people, so I was amazed to see how comfortable she was with dr winnie right from the start.

Why Point Cook Pet Owners Choose Dr Winnie

Settled Pets and Senior Pets, Seen at Home

Point Cook has been a family suburb for more than twenty years, and a lot of those first family pets are now greying around the muzzle. Senior check-ups, mobility and arthritis support, blood tests and quality-of-life conversations all happen at home, on familiar ground, where an older pet is calm and you have time to talk it through properly.

Beach Walks, Checked at Home

Point Cook dogs live well: the coastal park, the wetlands trails, long grass in the off-leash corners. Salt, sand and grass seeds can stir up skin, ears and paws. Dr Winnie checks all three at home, where your dog is relaxed instead of braced on a clinic table.

You See the Price Before She Starts

A standard home visit is from $110, with no travel fee in Point Cook. Anything extra is itemised and shown to you first. No surprises, no upselling.

Book

Reach out online or by message. You will hear back from Dr Winnie within 4 business hours, with a quick checklist to prep, such as any recent vet history, a calm space to use, and anything specific you want looked at.

Arrive

Dr Winnie arrives with everything in the car, from scales and stethoscope to otoscope, medications and any vaccines for the day. She sets up in whichever spot your pet feels happiest.

Exam

She checks the heart and lungs, looks in the ears and at the teeth, feels through the abdomen and watches how your pet moves, talking you through what she finds in everyday language as she goes. Plan on roughly 45 minutes.

Plan

You get a clear rundown of the findings, a treatment plan where one is needed, and named referrals plus follow-up if anything calls for more than a home visit can offer.

All of Point Cook 3030, New Estates Included

Point Cook Home-Visit Questions

  • Do you cover all of Point Cook?

Yes. Dr Winnie visits every part of Point Cook 3030, from Sanctuary Lakes and Saltwater Coast to Featherbrook, Alamanda and the newer streets at Upper Point Cook, with no travel fee. If your street is in a recent release and maps haven't caught up, send your lot number when you book and she'll find you.

  • How much does a mobile vet cost in Point Cook?

A standard consultation starts from $110, with no travel fee anywhere in Point Cook. Everything else is itemised and shown to you before Dr Winnie starts. See the pricing page for the full list.

  • Can a mobile vet care for my senior pet at home?

Yes, and it is one of the best reasons to book one. Senior health checks, arthritis and mobility support, blood tests and quality-of-life assessments all happen at home, where an older pet is relaxed and not stressed by a car trip or a waiting room. Dr Winnie gives you the time to talk through what your pet needs as they age.

  • Is a home vet visit as good as going to the clinic?

For everyday care, yes, with more time and less stress. When something needs clinic equipment, Dr Winnie can recommend a clinic for the procedure and refer you with her notes, or you're welcome to use your own local clinic. Her background is emergency and teaching-hospital surgery, so she knows when a referral is the right call, book a home visit.

  • Is there a 24-hour vet in Point Cook?

There's no 24-hour hospital in Point Cook itself. The closest is Greencross Vet Hospital at the University of Melbourne, 250 Princes Highway, Werribee, about 15 minutes' drive, open 24/7 for emergencies (03 8721 1414). Dr Winnie also refers to Advanced Vetcare in Kensington (03 9092 0400) and Geelong Animal Referral Hospital (03 4219 2169). She doesn't do after-hours herself, so if your pet is collapsed, struggling to breathe, bleeding heavily, having a seizure, or has a swollen, painful belly, go straight to Werribee. For anything that can wait, book a home visit.

  • Do you offer in-home end-of-life care?

Yes. Dr Winnie provides gentle, in-home euthanasia, so your pet can be at peace surrounded by family. Please call so she can talk you through it with care.
