Home Vet Visits Across Hoppers Crossing

Dr Winnie is a mobile vet who covers all of Hoppers Crossing 3029, from the long-established streets around Mossfiel and Woodville Park to the newer pockets out toward Tarneit. No carrier. No car trip. No waiting room full of other animals' stress. Just your own vet, in your own home, in Hoppers Crossing.

Hoppers Crossing is the settled heart of Melbourne's west. While the estates next door are still being built, the homes here have had decades to grow gardens, backyards and roots, and many are multigenerational, multicultural family households with pets who have been part of the family for years. Dr Winnie brings unhurried care to all of them, the long-loved older dog and the new kitten alike, without anyone leaving the house.

NOT AT HOME

  • Deep sedation or general anaesthesia
  • Dental work under anaesthesia
  • X-rays and imaging
  • Hospitalisation
  • After-hours emergency

When your pet needs any of these, you get a specific referral (not a brochure) and Dr Winnie stays in the loop until your pet is home.

Meet Dr Winnie

Dr Winnie qualified at the University of Queensland in 2007. Across nearly two decades she has worked in emergency medicine, the surgical unit of a university teaching hospital, and everyday suburban practice, before committing to home visits full-time.

That blend of experience counts. Years in emergency and teaching-hospital surgery trained her eye to catch the serious things early, and to tell the difference between a lump that can be left alone and one that belongs in front of a surgeon. General practice is where she found she loved the steady work of keeping pets well.

Being Fear Free certified means she takes her lead from your pet, reading their body language and moving at a pace they can handle rather than forcing the exam. And because she is a registered vet working solo, the person at your door is the same familiar face every visit, not whoever happens to be rostered on.

We had a great experience with Gentle Vet Care and Dr Winnie. The home visit made things much less stressful for our pet, and the whole process felt calm and easy. Dr Winnie was gentle, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly.Highly recommend if you’re after a more relaxed alternative to clinic visits.

Dr Winnie has helped to make vet visits a positive experience for my dogs, and I think her gentle, behaviour based approach is brilliant! I have one dog in particular who needs extra care and has had a bad experience in the past with vets. Dr Winnie has created a comfortable environment for him and made excellent progress. Would highly recommend!

Dr Winnie has been so caring and gentle with our old dog Willow. Willow is usually quite territorial and takes her time warming up to new people, so I was amazed to see how comfortable she was with dr winnie right from the start.

Winnie thx so much for all you did for us today. Not only were you a very capable vet, but your care for all of us was grounded in deep compassion. I will be forever grateful for the kindness and understanding you showered on us. Many blessings Finn, Fletch and Aari 🤗💕🐾🌹

Why Hoppers Crossing Pet Owners Choose Dr Winnie

A Vet for the Whole Family Home

Homes in Hoppers Crossing are often full, several generations, a few pets, and plenty going on. A home visit means the whole household can be part of it: the kids who want to help, the grandparent whose dog it really is, everyone in one place. Your pet stays relaxed, and no one has to make a separate trip.

Seen in Their Own Backyard

Unlike the apartment suburbs nearby, Hoppers Crossing is a place of real backyards and established gardens. Dr Winnie can examine your dog on its own turf, in the yard it patrols every day, where it's calm and confident rather than tense on a steel clinic table. It's a truer picture of how your pet really is.

Easier When Getting to a Clinic Is Hard

Not everyone can load a pet into the car and drive across to a clinic. For older residents, households without a spare car during the day, or anyone juggling a full house, Dr Winnie comes to you. The same registered vet, at your door, with no travel fee anywhere in Hoppers Crossing.

See the pricing page for the full list.

  • My parents can't easily get their dog to a vet. Can you visit them?

Yes, and it's one of the most valued parts of a home-visit service. For older residents, anyone without a car free during the day, or a pet that's hard to move, Dr Winnie comes to the home. You're welcome to be there too, or to arrange and cover the visit on their behalf.

  • There are clinics near Hoppers Crossing already. Why use a mobile vet?

Convenience is only part of it. Even with a clinic close by, a home visit means no carrier, no car trip and no waiting room full of stressed animals, so your pet is calmer and Dr Winnie sees how they really are at home. For everyday care it's often the gentler option, and when something needs clinic equipment she'll refer you on. book a home visit.

  • Is there a 24-hour vet in Hoppers Crossing?

There's no 24-hour hospital in Hoppers Crossing itself, but you're very close to one. Greencross Vet Hospital at the University of Melbourne, 250 Princes Highway, Werribee, is about 10 minutes' drive, open 24/7 for emergencies (03 8721 1414). Dr Winnie also refers to Advanced Vetcare in Kensington (03 9092 0400) and Geelong Animal Referral Hospital (03 4219 2169). Dr Winnie doesn't do after-hours herself, so if your pet is collapsed, struggling to breathe, bleeding heavily, having a seizure, or has a swollen, painful belly, go straight to Werribee. For anything that can wait, book a home visit.

  • Do you offer in-home end-of-life care?

Yes. Dr Winnie provides gentle, in-home euthanasia so your pet can pass peacefully at home, surrounded by the family they have known for years. Please call so she can talk you through how it works with care and answer your questions first.
